The quote though brief has a lot of insights to share.

Knock symbolizes an act you undertake to receive from God. Those who are shy they shud ask in order to get answers for their questions, Those who are extroverts if they talk the right thing then good understanding is received from others about them. While those who are in-between whenever they talk or express than they shall receive what they desire for,

Vanish is a metaphor of darkness or ignorance we fall into. Furthermore, it also means FORGOTTEN by world  - be it our words, actions, values, trends, ways, etc. In this state of VANISH, if you KNOCK the door of GOD or the Right person then you will be known and recognized for what you are. Be virtuous...Your virtuosity will be known.

Rumi by using the word FALL points to a failure in our goal achievement be it Spiritual or Material. But a KNOCK will be responded by helping you to rise to the heavens or goals you seek to achieve.

Lastly, he says dropping all identities will make you omnipresent and omniscient like God or Energy. Go from ROLE to SOUL..
